FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  September 11, 2009

You’ve heard the old adage, you’ve asked, you’ve even secretly wondered, “She can teach, she can coach…but can she REALLY sing?”

After a 10-year hiatus, well-known vocal producer and owner of The Voice Project, Mary Beth Felker, returns to the stage on September 28th as MOTHER FELKER.

Mother Felker (aka Mary Beth Felker) has been living in the Pacific Northwest nurturing 3 energetic teenagers while growing a thriving Vocal Development presence in Seattle and Portland via her business ‘The Voice Project.’  After spending the past 10 years off stage developing artists and garnering a nationally known reputation as a top-notch vocal producer she is once again hearing the inner call of the soloist urging her to share her-story. She returns to the stage for the debut of ‘Mother Felker’ on September 28th at Mix in Georgetown.

Not one to be fit into a specific musical genre, Mother Felker’s (MF) vocal diversity is most often described as 'soulful.' Add in sultry, beautiful, transparent and powerful and you begin to realize that hers is an instrument designed for the discerning ear where the voice is a reflection of the message, and music the vehicle for the journey. When forced to identify with a specific genre, MF easily responds with her personal adaptation:  “neo-soultry” (not a misspelling). “Neo-soultry”, as she describes it, “is simply good music all-grown-up and flavored by the experience of 40 years of good living.”

From the first song at 7pm. until the closing notes at 9:30pm, the debut of Mother Felker promises to be a full night of music and entertainment with a few bits of ‘motherly’ wisdom thrown in.  The 2 ½ hour concert features performances by well-known Seattle musicians. Fresh off his Australian tour, and past client of The Voice Project, Darrius Willrich will be singing songs from his CD  “Can’t get enough” featuring the first live performance of “Get down to this loving.”  Recently transplanted from LA, Jared Douglas will be making his first official Seattle performance during the Mother Felker debut as well as providing background vocal support.  Known as the go-to man for studio sessions, Jared’s songwriting/vocal credits include collaborations with the hit production teams of Beyonce’, Mary J Blige and Santana. Also a past client of TVP, Shawna Locey  is back from her recent national tour of “Who wins” . In addition to singing background vocals, Locey will be performing songs from her CD including a duet with Willrich. Add to the lineup Davee C,  (drums) Thaddeus Turner, (lead guitar), Gary Smith, (bass) and Eric Branner (acoustic guitar) and the debut of MOTHER FELKER is guaranteed to be a super soultry’  night of music that will leave you wanting to listen to your Mother over and over again.

Who is Mother Felker?

She's a mother.
A good mother.
But all the while she's been serving that noble role, she's been hiding her true powers.
Oh, she's let out some hints --- working her vocal magic for singers under the guise of The Voice Project studios and shadowing her voice in background vocals for bands throughout the Pacific Northwest.

However, the call of the soulful song keeps shouting her name. It's time for her to come out of hiding and do her part to save the world from musical boredom.

With her children on the verge of leaving the nest, she's grabbing her mic and stepping back onto the stage as Mother Felker.

Dance floors? You're about to get a spanking...
